Which Antivirus Suite?

By admin Posted in: Kaspersky

Mk Im trying out several different antivirus suites because AVG is no longer finding anything and Im done with that shite. I used Comodo and found two virus’s in the system restore folder that I got rid of. Currently have Trend Micro Titanium and Kaspersky 2012 as well. Out of these four what are everyone’s opinions? Install one of the two cd’s or stick with comodo?

Kasperskey is the best AV, see this comparative:http://www.av-comparatives.org/images/st…
You should also have MBAM, as your secondary scanner, it will pick up even more malware. It’s free:http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4716-m…

If using windows, which is most likely the case, use Microsoft essentials, otherwise, Common Sense 2012 will always be the best option.
The above link the user posted is some kind of 3rd party hot-linking web space setup on webs.com, I would be cautions about downloading things from sites like those..
Being a software developer, I can say that MSE would be the best bet, but I do not use any anti virus on my system due to performance issues, common sense will usually tell you when you have a malicious application running on your system, also using tools such as “smsniff.exe” can help you locate malicious processes, I actually created my own task manager that detects rootkits that may be hiding some process or anything else, you cannot really trust antivirus software.

Alright. So, I’d recommend that you use a free anti-virus if you have to. Unless you are looking to purchase one, than I’d have to recommend that you’d use Norton 360 5.0. I think that it’s the best anti-virus program out there. I’ve been using it for a couple of years and I’ll never go with any other paid anti-virus program.
You should only have two anti-virus programs installed onto your computer because more than one can cause your computer to have some serious lag. You only need one.
For free anti-virus, I’d suggest Avast! and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for anti-malware protection. You can have those two on the computer at the same time because they both have different intentions.
Of the ones you listed, I’d recommend that you use Kaspersky, even though I don’t like it. I hate Trend Micro Titanium even more because it’s a cheap anti-virus and hardly does anything. So, if you’re going to stick to an anti-virus you listed, stick with Kaspersky 2012.
    Hope this helps!

MS Security Essentials is free a great. Free however will probably never be a great as paid for versions/ I would recommend BitDefender 2012 Internet Security for malware protection as well as a firewall.

Stick with AVG, its not finding anything because its keeping your computer clean. I use AVG, have for about 4 years now.

Kespersky is good, but honestly you don’t need to pay. Avast and Microsoft security essentials are both free and great.
